Breakbot
I was just looking through all my blog posts sure that I had posted something up here about Breakbot. Nope. Not a damn thing. I apologize. No really, I am not being sarcastic or insincere at all. I am really sorry.
I don't even know how to describe Ed Banger. Some people have the talent to make music. Breakbot has the unique talent in taking other people music and making it his own. The dj skill is incredible to begin with. Then he drops the craziest beats. It doesn't matter what decade or genera. If it is hot Banger drops it AND mixes it in a way you have never heard before. Do you self a favor and just download this mixtapes and prepare to get down.
Bomb the Bass - Back to Light
I found this album Back to Light by
accident on emusic. I was searching for new music by Kelly Polar and
saw that he guests stars on the track "Start" off Bomb the Bass. The preview of the album sounded interesting so I bought it. Best purchase for some time now.
The more I listen to the album the more I like it. Tim Simenon
reminds me so much of Swayzak. Its incredibly smooth electro/trance/
electronica. Good song writing. Great vocals. Dance floor worthy
beats. If you like the visuals below, you will dig the album.

Jonsi, A New Postal Service???
Since hearing the Postal Service back in college I have been searching far and wide for a replacement. I gave up years ago for a reunion album between Death Cab For Cutie Front Man Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello aka DNTEL. Owl City came up flat. James Figurine aka Jimmy Tamborello has its moments. Besides that I really haven't found anything that caught my attention like the Postal Service until Monday night. I came across this video from Jonsi of Sigur Ros:
The album completely blew me away. This album is beat heavy and surprisingly fast for a Sigur Ros spin off. It's extremely complex in terms of production. At times the sound is manic until it builds into unbelievable melody. That is what reminds me so much of Postal Service. The Glitch/extreme electronica meet melody/beautiful song writing. For a debut album it sure will have ginormous shoes to follow... Go buy it when it debut in American on April 6th. Here are a few tracks to wet your appetite:

This video makes me sad. Athens is only an hour away. I could of seen Nosaj Thing back in February.... This is brilliant stuff.

White Hinterland _ Icarus
This group has been climbing up the emusic charts so I decided to take a look at the description. Anything that is compared to The XX these days grabs my attention. I wouldn't say the comparison is close but I can see where they are coming from. White Hinterland IS an electronic group. They do have a female singer. The melodies are subdued and quiet in sound. Their sound is also unmistakable. Two days later the album is still growing on me. Here is one of my favorite traks Icarus:
Cash & Bloom - Kitty Lady
One of SBA's favorite musicians, Parov Stelar, snuck a new Cash & Bloom EP past me last year. I am really late passing along these tunes to you but better late than never. I am hoping one of these two tracks will make it on to the special SBA & The MyMy Crew project that is currently in the works. Stay tuned for details and an exclusive mix.
District Ignition Strikes again
A few times a month I can look forward to receiving a new podcast from District Ignition in my google reader. District Ignition is DC Club that is kind enough to broadcast their shows to us people not so fortunate to live in Washington. This week I am passing along the electro sounds of Ciconte. Either go to District Ignitions home page for a complete listing or play the mix right here at SBA. Either way, enjoy:

Frightened Rabbit Returns
In celebration of Frightened Rabbit returning back to Atlanta on April 24th at the Masquerade, here is two of my favorite videos from the last trip through town. I'm excited to hear the new tracks live off the new album, "the winter of mixed drinks." If you are a fan of the band and have not picked this up, I highly recommend it.

Mymy crew goes balkan mixtape
I have been friendly with Morrison of this Holland Crew for the last two months. He hit me up on Twitter on Saturday with news that they were dropping their Balkan inspired Mixtape on Sunday.
Mondays are always especially difficult for me to get going at work but I was looking forward to hearing the mix. I just got a chance to listen to it this morning it should definitely should be shared. Its a great blend of Balkan vocals and instruments with Electro and House currents flowing through the mix. If you are feeling adventurous on this beautiful Monday morning, check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Holly Miranda - It keeps getting better...
Last week when I posted the Holly Miranda live video for Joints I wasn't aware it was just part one of three. I was only sharing one third of the brilliance. You have to watch all three!

Holly Miranda "Joints"
Sometimes you come across music that floors you. Holly Miranda's album The Magicians Private Library was recommended to me last night. I loaded it up on my phone to listen to at work. The album starts with "Forest Green, Oh Forest Green." This track has a sorta Cat Power meets Beirut feel to it. I immediately looked her up on youtube and found this masterpiece above.
Where have I been? What rock have I been living under? This woman is amazing! I have only had a chance to hear the album once and I literally can't wait to hear it again. I have a feeling this one is going to get stuck on repeat.

Four Tet - There is Love in you
Four Tet's "there is love in you" is one of my favorite albums so far in 2010. Four Tet always delivers something different with each track and that is consistent with this new release. Some of his tracks are more on the IDM side and some are more beat heavy. One thing that is consistant is that the production is amazing, the tones are soothing, and the music takes you another place. Enjoy these beats and go see him if he comes near you! Here is a bonus, Four Tet's essential Mix from Radio One

iNUDGE
Ever wanted to fool around with making beats? I found a cool website that allows novices like me to create some simple loops. You can choose 8 different sound patterns on a 16 step matrix. For each sound pattern you can adjust the volum, mute, clear, set the audio pan... enough to keep you busy for a while. Play the iNUDGE here.
