MIA - Stepping up (An-Ten-Nae Acid Crunk Remix)

M.I.A - Steppin Up (An-Ten-Nae Remix) by an-ten-nae

I just ran across this San Francisco producer remixing M.I.A. on soundcloud this afternoon. I was instantly intrigued and can't wait to start surfing through his remixes. Also make sure to check out his website for remixes for purchases and free mixtapes. A little about the artist from his bio:

"An*Ten*Nae is one of San Francisco’s most sought after DJs and live performers. He has taken the art of live remixing to new heights with his own customized setup, that bends genres in ways seldom heard. This sound is called Acid Crunk, and there are no rules, no restraints in its quest for a pure sound that is not Homogenized."

Evil Nine Shows Their True Colors

Evil Nine's VHS Halloween Party Part Three (2010) by Evil Nine

The boys from Evil Nine have always categorized themselves as the darker side of electronic music. Most of their album covers are depicted with horror scenes, graveyards, and the undead. Their music shares those same dark undertones. It seems only fitting that they would put together the mother of all Halloween mixes. With the October holiday right around the corner, download this mix and start to get in the spirit. I'll stop talking about it and just let the guys from Evil Nine tell you about their mix:

"It's that time of year again; the time of year where we spend a incredibly long day in the studio listening to incredibly dark and depressing music and dialogue from old horror movies until it drives us fucking insane. We've risked our nerves and sanity to bring you this lovely collection of VHS era electronic horror soundtracks by popular artists such as Chuck Cirino, Tanizaki Tetora, Simon Boswell and Terry Taylor. Plus it includes four previously unreleased Evil Nine horror tracks. VHS 'Party' is maybe overdoing it a bit, we're not completely sure how you're supposed to party to it but I'm sure you'll enjoy it's spooky bounty all the same."

Rye Rye feat. M.I.A. "Sunshine"

I spent the whole last part of the week seeing posts about the new Rye Rye & M.I.A. track "Sunshine" but never got around to watching the video. I finally did and boy is it worth the hype. Great visually and a terrific beat. Rye Rye's rhymes reminded me of a young Trina and M.I.A. has never sounded better singing. Must see TV for this morning.

Blood Bros: First Blood Mixtape

DJS and DJA have made a Mixtape for the Mad Decent Blog and I thought it was appropriate to share with you all on Friday. For my working people out there, its hard to get motivated with the weekend so close you taste it. This is THE most ridiculous motivational mixtapes of the year. Strangely, I keep playing it :)

Do you like 80s music? Do you like 80s boxing, karate, fighting, rambo-esque movies? If you just answered yes to either of these and you don't take you music listening too seriously, this Mixtape is for you. Enjoy and have a safe weekend.

The XX - VCR (FOUR TET REMIX)

The xx - VCR (Four Tet remix) by Four Tet

It looks like this week's theme is remixes by my favorite artist of my favorite artist. These two together make an amazing track. SBA has been big fans of The XX since their debut album dropped. I got excited when I saw that the one and only Four Tet was applying his spaced out minimal sounds to the ever growing English indie group. Four Tet's version of the song is allot faster than what I was expecting. The remix reminds me of something Latin (almost a spaced out salsa). In 13 hours it has already gotten 12,179 hits on Soundcloud! I hope you take the time to listen and add to that number.

Crystal Castles - "Baptism" (Punks Jump Up Remix)

Crystal Castles - Baptism (Punks Jump Up remix) by Punks Jump Up

This is the newest remix from the London duo Punks Jump Up. With these two, I have found that anything they decide to remix will be amazing. Once again, I am not disappointed with their unique spin on Crystal Castles "Baptism."
