Its finally Friday and time to get this weekend started already. I got a perfect video to get your morning going by LBCK and a mixtape by the duo for your ride home. Alex Noblé and Mike Lucas aka Long Beach City Kids also have a great soundcloud page if you want to hear more music from the duo.

About time for a mid-day mixtape break! This morning I discovered that long time SBA favorites Evil Nine are on soundcloud. They posted this "For Lovers Mixtape #1" mixtape for download a month ago. I am a little late in finding it but you will be glad you found it here. The track list doesn't even do it justice. Enjoy...

When M.I.A. quazi-retired last year I was a little bummed. I really enjoy her music and hearing a different world perspective. She has so much to offer in terms of revolutionizing the boundaries of popular music. I think with Maya she may crossed to many boundaries for the album to ever be a hit. Who knows, in five years looking back, this may be considered ground breaking music. Unfortunately right now, for this fan, I find the album just plain noisy and mostly unplayable. By now everyone has heard "Born Free" so I wanted to share another song I am digging off the album. Enjoy.
The Hood Internet is back baby! This time they are straight chillin' with the best downtempo/hip-hop/r&b collabs. I love the whole relaxed vibe of this mixtape and as always; its 100% free. Download it here. If you like this mix, go visit the boys over at The Hood Interent for individual track downloads and countless free mixtapes.

The Air Swell Mixtape was new to me about a month ago but for people in the underground Hip Hop scene these South Philly guys have been blowing up for a while now. Their first official release is going to drop in August. I have a feeling they are going to be HUGE in the second half of 2010. If this video doesn't get your juices flowin then I can't help you...
I downloaded Mount Kimbie's album on a whim last night. I was able to hear 30 second previews of each song but really had no idea what I was getting into. It sounded interesting but downloading an album based on that alone can be an utter disaster. Mount Kimbie is far from that. Its utter perfection.
Right now, I am stuck inside on this gorgeous day with these beautiful tunes filling my brain in total peace. Although the tracks are stripped down to minimal beats, the melody and sound is lush and dense. I love how the album takes on a soundtrack feel with each song blending and complimenting each other. I'm only 30 minutes in and I already want to start "Crooks & Lovers" over again for another listen. Well just my luck, I am on the last song and ready to try again. Peace.
On Sunday night I ran across this mix because of a fellow SBA favorite HipGnosis. Eric left some positive comments on Clarkness's Soundcloud page. I am always interested in what artist I like are saying about artist they like.
As soon as the mix started I had a really good feeling about this one. I started reading the track descriptions and was instantly captivated. Its not everyday that you get to read the creative process behind the choosing of artists for a mix. Having this information made the already great mix that more enjoyable.
The fact that many of these artist are Soundcloud account holders makes the music I can hear and learn about almost limitless from just one mix. Everyday I dig deeper and deeper into soundcloud and find more brilliant producers and djs like Clarkness. I hope you enjoy the mix and maybe this post can jump start your own Soundcloud journey.
Tracklist Description from Clarkness ---
"Right, here's the lowdown on this set. Features a lot of people I have met through Soundcloud. This place is the shit.
01 - Puffas - "Geyser" which starts off with me messing about with some samples from The Great Red Shark's remix of Sam Sally's "Wonders". The Great Red Shark has a ton of amazing tracks on his page. Quality Producer.
02 - Cathode - "While Making Other Plans"
03 - Samir - "Sinicuichi" - His soundcloud page can be found under the name SJMashlum. Played a few of his tracks. Loving his work.
04 - HipGnosis "New Dope" - Just recently met him through Twitter. He's on soundcloud too. Tons of music on his page as he hosts a Glitch.FM show and sticks them up for your listening pleasure. He asked me to do a guest mix for his show so excited about that. Check him out.
05 - Four Tet - Angel Echoes (Jon Hopkins Remix) - I love Four Tet and now I love Jon Hopkins. Amazing track.
06 - Aphex Twin - Xtal
07 - Kabaa Modern - Play It Back (Nev@ The Novossaratrovska FM Orchestras Way Of The River Remix) - Been keeping in touch with Kabaa Modern. Another podcaster and Soundcloud artist. Lots of free music over his way! Love his stuff.
08 - It breaks down into me messing with some samples from a track called "Indian Girl Dub" remixed by Dominic Owen. The original track is amazing but wouldn't really fit into this set. I recommend you get the original though as it is amazing.
09 - James Holden - Triangle Folds
10 - Shuqq - "Toybox" - Another dude I met on Soundcloud. His beats are mightily impressive. Love the way his stuff stomps along. Toybox is a bit out-there but I love it. You should check out more of his stuff.
11 - Simon Stokes - "Boggle" - Scottish producer I "met" a long time ago back when we were both putting mc909 videos on youtube. He's a top guy and has since managed to get tracks released. Respect. He's on soundcloud now. Check him out!
12 - Alan Clark - "Sicko" - This track is free download on my page. It's not really one for playing itslef but it is quality for dropping over tracks. It's long so you can fade in and out of it at your pleasure.
15 - Nathan Fake - "Charlie's House (Apparat Remix)" - Noticed recently he has jumped onto Soundcloud. Love his stuff. Seen his live set in the Arches in Glasgow last year. Amazing
16 - David Sol - "Thieves Of Sleep" - Just met him recently. I make ableton tutorial videos and this guy got in touch from the website. He said he used some things I taught when he made this. :D However, he hardly needs teaching. Amazing track and available for free on soundcloud."
Big news on the blog today... Or at least for me. I finally figured out the best way to bring you the best music I am hearing daily. Gone are the days of lame youtube videos still shots with music playing in the background.
From here on out you can visit my soundcloud page to stream the music that gets my blood pumping. Out of respect for the artist you will not be able to download these tracks but I highly recommend buying the music that you like there.
Speaking of buying some music, last night I was in heaven when I saw the new Parov Stelar available on emusic. The EP has three different versions of the new single but I think this 1930s version is the cats ass. In true Parov Stelar fashion it blends tasty electro with classic jazz and big band rhythm. Once again Parov Stelar drops another hit for me to wear out.
You can accuse me of jumping on the bandwagon all you want with Janelle Monaeo because I am. I admit, I first saw a write up on the emerging Atlanta powerhouse many months ago in my fiance's Nylon best of Issue. I have stayed away from her music because of all the attention she has been getting in the blog world. But why can't mainstream also be amazing? I am still working my way into the album but one thing is for sure, Tightrope is amazing and will be an incredible hit. This song alone will put her squarely on the map.
Every once and a while you run across a video that absolutely makes the song. Not even sure Breakbot's new single would even spark my attention had it not been for the video. Watch pure brilliance...
Rarely do bands sound as good as they do on the lp live. Even rarer do they sound as good acoustically. Phoenix preformed for NPR recently and they did a phenomenal job. I just had to share...
Been rocking this Mixtape for over a week before I realized I haven't posted it anywhere. I previously posted TOUCH BASS's Summer Essentials #4 which was a fun pop-electro mix from the Vancouver Dj. "Silver & Gold" dives more into the electo house genera. Its 1:12 minutes of memorable tunes and incredible builds. If you like what you have been hearing here on SBA go check out his soundcloud page for his entire archive of mixes.
July 4th has come and gone. Were a few weeks removed from the USA being eliminated from the World Cup. Need a good old fashion "American Pick Me Up"? Look no further. The Hood Internet is back baby. Download there newest mixtape here or take a listen here on SBA.
